Only our 2nd trip to Blackpool this year, which is amazing in its self. We arrived at the PB 11am and left at 8pm, which resulted in my first ride on that contraption they call the Sky Coaster on the South Pier. Too many beers made me feel brave.

Sky Coaster Review: South Pier, Blackpool.

It's the single best thing I have ever done at a 'amusement/theme park/fair'. We came off Bling just before 8pm and I said why don't we go and ride the Sky Coaster on South Pier, I was fully expecting it to be closed because it wasn't exactly calm winds. So I thought I'd look a hero without having to ride it... wrong! It was open, wonderful because I can't back out now. It has stared and mocked me every single visit to Blackpool for years, so today was the day I didn't have to wonder any more.

A few more beers in the Laughing Donkey for more courage and it was time. Nicola & Johno wished us good luck, we got all harnessed up and it was about that time it started to dawn on me what I was about to do. I took the rip cord, we were laid down, told to link arms, the platform was taken away and in front of the entire pier we were on our way to the top. 3... 2... 1... let's fly! Or in my case double check 4 times that was our countdown. I pulled the cord and we headed for the pier head first screaming (it's bloody high when your up there & some great views). For a flying sensation it's way better than Air, you have more freedom... well it's just better in every single possible way!

We came to a stop after I grabbed a stick from the ride op, and he said would we like to go again for £5 each and without any delay I said yes. So we did it all again the sheer adrenaline, enjoyment, horror and buzz you got from it was just unbelievable. I've never felt anything quite like it before. If you want to instantly sober up after 9 hours of drinking, this is the ride for you. I really can't put it into words, it was that good. I would ride every single visit if it wasn't so expensive. We also bought the DVD of our 2 rides.

I'd recommend it to anyone that was like me, you look at it and think... I would but not this time and just keep putting it off. Go and try one, please. It's worth every single penny for a first time ride.
